Devotional Thought:
Loneliness can feel like a heavy burden, one that often comes without warning. Whether we experience it in the quiet of a solitary moment or in the midst of a crowded room, loneliness has a way of making us feel disconnected from others and even from God. It’s easy to wonder, “Where is God when I feel this way?”
Psalm 34:18 gives us an incredible promise: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted.” God doesn’t leave us to walk through loneliness on our own. In fact, He draws near in those very moments when we feel most alone. His presence becomes a source of comfort and strength, offering us peace when nothing else can.
In times of solitude, we may feel like no one sees or understands our pain. But God does. He knows our hearts deeply, and He promises to be near, even when we feel distant from everyone else. He is the companion who never abandons, the comforter who always stays by our side.
Application:
When you feel lonely, remember that God is never far from you. Take a moment to pause, breathe, and invite His presence into your heart. Spend time in His Word, reminding yourself of His promises. When loneliness creeps in, turn to prayer and trust that God is with you, right where you are. Allow Him to fill the empty spaces and provide the comfort only He can offer.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for Your constant presence in my life. When I feel lonely or broken, remind me that You are near. Help me to find peace in Your company and trust that You will comfort my heart. I give You my loneliness and ask that You fill me with Your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
